Question 1. How many siblings did Bholi have ?
Answer :- Bholi had a six siblings three brothers and three sisters.
Question 2. Why was sulekha called Bholi, the simpton ?
Answer :- Sulekha was called Bholi, the simpleton because she had an infarmity in her brain and she neglected in the family.
Question 3.What was the effect of small pox on Bholi ?
Answer :- Her Body was permanently disfigured by deep black pock marks.
Question 4. Why did the other children make fun of Bholi ?
Answer :- The other children made fun of Bholi because of her stammerings.
Question 5. Why was Ramlal worried about Bholi ?
Answer :- Ramlal Bholi’s father was worried about her because she was neither good looking nor intelligent.

Answer :- Bishamber demanded five thousand rupees as dowry because as the girl had black pock marks on her face.

Answer :- She did not want to marry a man freedy and coward as Bishamber Natt.

Answer :- They agreed to Bishamber Nath’s proposal because they thought that nobody else would marry such a simpleton and physically unattractive girl.

Question 1. Describe in brief the early childhood of Bholi ?
Answer :- The early childhood of Bholi was sad and miserable. she was the fourth daughter of Numberdar Ramalal. She was an unfortune child. At birth she was very preety and fair. But soon the fate shook her when she had fallen off the cot on her head. It had harmed her brain. when she two years old, she suffered from small pox. Her whole body expect her eyes were permanently disfigured. There were black pock marks on her body. Till five she was unable to speak. when she began to children used to make fun of her. she used to make fun of her. she used to talk very less because of the fear of mockery.
Question 2. Ramlal was not worried about his children except Bholi why ?
Answer :- Ramlal was prosperous farmer and numberdar of his village. He had four daughters and three sons except Bholi, all others were good looking and healthy. Ramlal had a social status and his three daughters were cute and attractive. He was not worried about their marriages. His three sons were also healthy and strong. The eldest daughter already been married. The second daughter Mangla is healthy and strong. The second daughter mangla’s marriage had also been settled after eldest daughter marriage. He would think of the third daughter champa. Ramlal was worried about Bholi. She was neither good looking nor intelligent. He left that it would b very difficult to find a bridegroom for Bholi.
Question 3. Write, in brief, a character sketch of Bholi teacher.
Answer :- Bholi’s teacher was very kind to Bholi. she was very sympathetic towards Bholi. Her voice was soft. when Bholi reached school she asked her name very gently. It touched Bholi’s heart. when Bholi was unable to pronounce her name, her teacher made her to do it correctly. Her continous effects made Bholi to pronounce her name correctly. she encourages Bholi by saying that one day she would be able to learn everything. Her words encouraged Bholi a lot. It was her teacher’s encouragement that when Bholi found Bhishamber an unsuitable bridegroom for her. She dared to refuce to marry him. Her teacher admired her decision. It changed her life a lot. she decided to study further and become a teacher. All this happened because of her teacher.
Question 4. Write in brief the character sketch of Bhishamber.
Answer :- Bishamber is a greedy man middle aged grocer. He is a widower. He also walks with a limp. He makes a proposal of marriage with limp. His parents accept his proposal. Bishamber arrange his marriage with a great pomp and show. A large number of friends and relatives attend his marriage. on the garlanding ceremony, Bishamber has a quick glance at the face of Bholi which is full of pock marks. He demands five thousand rupees as dowry to marry her. Bholi’s father places his turban at Bishamber’s feet, to avoid humiliation. Ramlal gets ready to give two thousand rupees. But Bishamber insists on getting five thousand rupees. He is adamant. This shows his true character. He is money grubbling. Bholi in the end refuses to marry him. It is huge humiliation of Bishamber. He himself is responsible for his disgrace.
