Those who work at that time soon run their health. Bad health must, in the long run, have bad effect so the quality of their work.

Answer :- The Poet prays to God to turn his country into a heaven of freedom. He prays that his countrymen should given up all that is evil. They should not be narrow-minded. Only then can his country gain freedom in the real sense. 

 

(b) How did the two comrades spend their days? (A Ballad of Sir Pertab Singh)

Answer :- The two comrades spent their days together. They would go riding in the morning and in the evening. They told each other stories of love and adventure. Thus they passed their days happily.. Then one day the English soldier died suddenly.

Answer :- Inspector Morton arrested Smith. The charges against Smith were the murder of Victor and the attempted murder of Sherlock Holmes.

Answer :- The author met a person named Naeem in the hospital ward. Like author, Naeem too was blind. Both of them had been admitted there for the operation of their eyes.

 

(in) Which suggestion did Gillian accept? What did he do then? (One Thousand Dollars)

Answer :- Gillian accepted the suggestion to give a diamond pendant to Miss Lotta. He phoned for a cab, and asked the driver to take him to the columbine Theatre. 

 

(iv) Besides selling rice what else did Subbiah do to earn more? (Half a Rupee Worth)

Answer :- Subbiah lent money at high rates of interest. If people failed to pay back his money, he would acquire their houses. Thus he earned more and more money.
